Using the Document Viewer
The Document Viewer allows you to view and print records, and to add an addendum to a record. It also displays all documents identified when you Search your patient's MedKaz. It is this window that opens when you log on. Opening multiple records appears similar to this:
In this example, the left-hand column shows records for four different encounters, each of which contains underlying documents, and the date and provider for each. The highlighted encounter is open in the main window. You can page through and read the encounter documents using controls in the Document Viewer tool bar.
The Document Viewer allows you to:
- View the documents relating to encounters or other documents such as Advance Directives and addenda
- Use the tool bar to control the display
- Print documents or other information displayed
- Add addenda to encounter documents
Viewing Documents
Encounter documents include an Encounter Summary and, often, scanned images of other documents, lab reports, X-rays, EKG tracings, and transcribed dictation. They are processed on the MedKaz Server and, when verified, are downloaded to your patient's MedKaz. A document can have multiple pages.
To view documents:
- Double-click a row in a table that has a paperclip icon .
- The Document Viewer opens.
- Use the page control to step through the pages of the document. The Document Viewer tool bar provides several controls for displaying the document's contents.
An addendum that corrects or clarifies a record appears as a separate page attached to the document:
