Becoming a MedKaz Provider
To become a registered MedKaz provider, you must enter into a business relationship with Health Record Corporation. You have two choices: to become a Licensee or a Dispenser-Licensee. In either case, registration is free and entitles you to a free copy of the MedKaz PRM, a free one year license for Norton Antivirus and Malware, and free support services from HRC.
A Licensee is paid a fee each time they update a patient’s MedKaz. A Distributor-Licensee is paid the same update fee but also earns a profit dispensing the MedKaz to their patients.
To estimate the financial benefits you can expect from supporting the MedKaz, access the interactive Value Calculator at http://medkaz.com/valuecalculator. Simply enter values approximating those for your practice, such as the number patients you treat per day, the percentage of patients for whom you order tests, your hourly clerical pay rate, the percentage of active patients you think will subscribe to a backup service with you. Then click the Calculate button. It will compute the incremental income you can expect to earn annually by embracing and supporting the MedKaz. You also can calculate the financial difference between being a Licensee and a Dispenser-Licensee.
After you sign up with HRC, you can monitor your monthly and year-to-date activity by accessing the Activity Report at http://medkaz.com/activityreport. It is updated daily and reports the number of MedKaz devices you have dispensed, your inventory status, and the number of updates you have processed.
MedKaz Licensee
If you provide care and wish to support the MedKaz but are not a PCP and choose not to be a Dispenser when you sign up, you must sign the License Agreement. You do so by clicking on “I Agree” and entering your PIN. Click "No thank you" to decline the Distribution agreement.
As a Licensee, your primary obligation is to keep your patient's MedKaz current by uploading copies of your records after each encounter. Your patient may ask you to send copies of their past records to HRC for processing and downloading to their MedKaz. They will provide you with an instruction sheet and a HIPAA Release.
MedKaz Dispenser-Licensee
If you are a PCP or a specialist who wants to dispense the MedKaz as well as support it, you must sign both the Distribution and Provider License Agreements. You do so by clicking on “I Agree” and entering your PIN.
As a Dispenser-Licensee you assume responsibility for stocking and dispensing MedKaz devices to your patients. You purchase them from HRC at wholesale and sell them to your patients at retail. The margin compensates you for stocking the device and pre-loading it with your patients' prior records. You also agree to keep your patient's MedKaz current by uploading copies of your records after each encounter. You are paid for each update.
Signing Up
To sign up, open a browser on your computer and access the MedKaz Server at http://medkaz.com/medkazsignup. A Welcome screen will open along with five additional tabs. To register, you must enter your contact information under the Provider/Facility tab, execute the HRC Distribution Agreement and/or License Agreement, and read the HRC Privacy Policy statement. You then will be permitted to download the free MedKaz PRM and upload patient records for processing.
Even if you have an EMR system you may want to download the PRM so you can meet most Meaningful Use requirements sooner.
